Chief Financial Officer

The Company

Buttimer Engineering is a diversified mechanical engineering company specialising in bulk materials handling systems and high-quality steel fabrication. The company operates across a range of industries, providing design, fabrication, installation, maintenance, project management and engineering services. Buttimer Engineering provides design and build expertise to clients internationally from its offices in Ireland, Poland and the UK.

The Role

Buttimer Engineering is seeking applications for the role of Chief Financial Officer. This is a key role within Buttimer Engineering and is responsible for all aspects of the organisation’s financial management and deliverables. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

·        Managing the Finance and HR Department

·        Completing annual budgeting process in conjunction with the CEO, COO and senior management team

·        Preparing and monitoring financial forecasts

·        Attending management meetings and participating in business planning

·        Developing, maintaining and updating effective financial procedures processes and internal controls

·        Undertaking commercial analysis of new opportunities as well as current and future business relationships

·        Implementing proper financial reporting structures to ensure Buttimer Engineering is compliant with relevant filing deadlines and ensuring all filings are in line with the most up to date reporting standards

·        Overseeing the provision of timely financial information to internal and external stakeholders

Essential Criteria

·        A professional accountancy qualification & member of a recognised accountancy body

·        A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar role

·        Experience of producing monthly management accounts and bank reconciliations

·        Knowledge of computer based financial accounting systems and software

·        Experience of producing periodic and annual forecasts and budgets

 

Desirable Criteria

·        Evidence of financial management experience in the engineering or similar technical sector;

·        Evidence of being self-driven and forward thinking;

·        Experience in working in both domestic and international markets.

Sales Engineer

A vacancy has arisen within our sales department for a Sales Engineer covering a national based sales role for the bulk materials handling and mechanical engineering solutions industry based out of our Head Office in Cahir, Co. Tipperary.

Your Responsibilities

  • Delivers and manages the sales growth of the region by generation sales leads as a result of effective networking, referrals and prospecting

  • Takes ownership in leading tenders, proposals and quotations through effective communication with key personnel within the engineering and contracts department

  • Successfully identifies, penetrates and closes business opportunities to a successful end within but not limited to the services, maintenance and fabrication sectors of the business.

  • Prepares and follows up with quotations, tenders engineer design service requests

  • Ability to negotiate within set parameters to be able to achieve a sale

  • Monitors orders closely and can rapidly escalate any potential issues

  • Maintains an excellent relationship with all stakeholders ensuring the correct specifications and project criteria are achieved

  • Actively develops a network of new customer relationships with both new and existing clients

  • Maintains an accurate database of all customer contact details and shares this information willingly with other areas of the business

Mechanical Estimator

A vacancy has arisen within our sales department for a mechanical estimator reporting to the sales director covering our operational markets based out of our Head Office in Cahir, Co. Tipperary, Ireland.

The role contributes to the continued success and growth of Buttimer Engineering facilitating the co-ordination of all enquiries from receipt of enquiry to tender completion. The role is to produce accurate estimates on time for adjudication and to negotiate successful tenders to hand over with the contracts department.

Your Responsibilities

  • To review and assess inbound tender documentation and requirements to enable production of successful bids.

  • Takes ownership in leading tender completion, proposals and quotations through effective communication with key personnel within the engineering and contracts department.

  • Successfully identifies the key dates and requirements within all enquiries with the ability to report on risk and opportunity by using the inbound information to open all enquiries on the company CRM system

  • To work collaboratively as a key member of the bid team enhancing successful collaboration of the sales, engineering and contracts departments

  • Review and comprehend technical and administrative documents such as Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and requests for quotes (RFQs) ensuring that all Prequalification Questionnaires (PQQs) are returned accurately and on time

  • Determine list of material take-offs to define quantities of work materials

  • Break down scope of work into definable tasks

  • Ensure tenders comply with health & safety, quality and environmental legislation as well as compliance with Buttimer Engineering policies and procedures.

  • To produce accurate net estimates with full breakdown for adjudication

  • Maintain an accurate database of all customer contact details and shares his information willingly with other areas of the business

Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a Senior level, experienced engineer to design and price customer solutions, assist in winning business and deliver complex projects. The role will be based either in our head office in Cahir, Co. Tipperary or our Dublin office (Citywest area). The successful candidate will be expected to travel to sites in Ireland and the UK as required.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering degree qualification

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience

  • Proven track record on mechanical construction sites - ideally in Ireland and the UK

  • Knowledge and experience of materials handling design and project delivery is desirable

  • Proven track record in project execution

  • Clear ability to software packages such as Microsoft Project (or equivalent), AutoCAD, Solid works, etc.

  • Design capability is an advantage

  • Problem solving ethos

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 years relevant experience.

  • Assist Engineering Director with producing design concept drawings.

  • Review and execute drawings to client specifications.

  • Assist Project Engineers on customer quotes and designs.

  • Attend client meetings (Site walkdowns and design reviews) with Project Engineers and Engineering Director as required.

  • Meet deadlines for delivery of drawings in support of projects in Ireland, UK and Europe.
